Advanced Training Program
NYJTL’s Advanced Training Program provides talented players ages 6-18 with year-round on and off court elite training by USPTA and PTR certified coaches. The program focuses on helping team members develop necessary skills and improve technique, footwork, balance, and coordination and point construction. Professional staff work to improve the children’s tennis skills and build character through the sport. Through training, each student develops discipline, decision-making skills, self-esteem, the ability to focus on goals, and a commitment to high standards. These values help kids improve their grades in school, maximize their academic opportunities and attain success in life.
Two tryouts are held each year in the spring and fall to identify and select Tournament Team members. Evaluations are based on, on-court skills and point situations. USTA’s QuickStart equipment is used at the tryouts for all players ages 10 and under.
Summer Tournament Team
Members receive on court training and conditioning 5 hours a day, 5 days a week, for a period of 6-8 weeks in the summer. The team takes part in competitive play, team travel, and special events.
Winter Tournament Team
Members are selected in the fall and receive scholarships to train at various clubs. Training is offered from October to April and includes on court sessions, fitness, free Sunday sessions, tournament trips, and special events.
