This month, New York Junior Tennis & Learning (NYJTL) is featuring 9 year old Alyssa as our Rising Star. Alyssa attends PS 100 Issac Clason in the Bronx.
When did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis when I was 7 years old. I started playing tennis in school. I made friends after we played.
What do you like most about playing tennis?
What I like about playing tennis is when I play matches. I get better in tennis and try my best to win.
Have you played in tournaments? Tell us about your best results.
We went to the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center to play in a QuickStart tennis tournament. I played singles matches. We got t-shirts.
What is your greatest accomplishment?
My greatest accomplishment in my young life was to come to NYJTL, learn how to play tennis, and to be in a tennis tournament.
What is your favorite subject in school?
My favorite subject in school is math because it helps me with things that need math. Like if you need to find out the area of a tennis court to help you set it up math can help you.
How does NYJTL help you in school?
NYJTL helps me in school because tennis helps me have leadership. Nutrition helps me eat the right things.
What are your plans for college?
My plans for college are getting into a good one, so when I graduate I can grow up to be a tennis player.
