NYJTL was born in 1970 as the official New York City chapter of the National Junior Tennis League (NJTL). Just a year earlier, tennis champion Arthur Ashe, Charlie Pasarell, Eugene Scott and Sheridan Snyder founded NJTL as a way to interest city kids in tennis. NYJTL seized upon the idea, receiving 501 (c) (3) charity status in 1974, and has been transforming young lives through tennis ever since.
